Akropong, Dec. 24, GNA - Management of Computer Aid to Ghana, a Danish-based NGO, has donated clinical equipment, computers and accessories worth over GHC40,000 to selected schools and medical centres in Akuapem Traditional Area.

The items, presented through Nimdea Foundation, an Akuapem-based NGO at Akropong on Wednesday, were for Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong Akuapem, Okuapem East Orange Clinic, Christ Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Training College (PTC) Primary and District Primary Schools all at Akropong.

Presenting the items, Mrs Joyce Awuku-Adu, Vice President of Nimdea Foundation, expressed optimism that the presentation would improve health care delivery in the area.

She said the computers would assist children to be computer literate to compete with their counterparts in the urban areas. Mrs Awuku-Adu said the organization was determined to support under-privileged schools to improve upon their Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills. She expressed the hope that the children would take advantage of the computers to enhance learning, socialisation and communication skills.

Madam Monica Frempong, Senior Midwifery Officer of Okuapem East Orange Clinic, who received the items on behalf of the medical centres thanked the donors for the gesture and said the items would be fairly distributed to schools and the selected medical centres in the area. She observed that more and more employers in the country now were demanding computer skills as a condition for employment and appealed to other NGO's to assist in equipping schools with more computers.
