The mother of a pregnant Angus woman who was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Ghana has spoken for the first time.
Former NHS receptionist Charmain Adusah, from Arbroath, was found in a hotel bath by concerned staff on March 20.
Husband Eric Isaiah Adusah is being held on suspicion of murdering the 41-year-old, who was three months pregnant, according to local media.
Mrs Adusah’s family still await her husband’s approval of repatriation of her body, as next of kin.
Her mother Linda Speirs said her death has left the family “heartbroken”.
“It’s tearing my heart apart because she wasn’t only my daughter, she was my friend as well,” she said.
“I was able to speak to her about anything.
“She was my first-born child and I’ll never hear her voice again. I’ll never be able to say cheerio or even give her a kiss goodbye.
Adusah is head pastor at the Tottenham branch of Global Light Revival Ministries in London.
His lawyer has claimed his wife died alone of a heroin overdose, which has been rubbished by the Speirs family.
Mrs Speirs said: “She was dead against drugs, anything to do with drugs. She would help anybody in need.
“He’s not only accused Charmain of being on drugs, he’s accused the whole family of being drug addicts, which we’re furious at.”
Family friends have now launched a campaign to raise £10,000 to have Mrs Adusah’s body repatriated.
The appeal has already raised more than £4,000 in 10 days.
It is understood the couple had been attending a religious programme in the west African country when Mrs Adusah died.
Her husband has led “divine visitation” events across the UK and Ireland, receiving £1 million in charitable donations.
