Day of reckoning for ‘football people’ as Anas blows lid off #12 exposé

Hundreds of Ghanaians, particularly those in the football administration, will today, barring any unforeseen circumstances, know their destinies as Anas Aremeyaw Anas shows his latest investigative piece on the rot in the football administration in the country.

Ghanaians will have the opportunity to watch the undercover investigative film christened: ‘No 12’ by ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and his Tiger Eye Pi Company at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) from 3:00 p.m.,- 8:00 pm.

Since the announcement was made for public viewing of the film a couple of weeks ago, it has generated heated a argument among the Ghanaian populace.

While a cross-section of Ghanaians have hailed the work of Anas, others like the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong, and his colleague party member, who is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as (Wontumi), have discredited his (Anas’s) work.

Describing him, [Anas], as “extortionist,” Kennedy Agyapong argued that Anas’ mode of operation amounts to entrapment, which should not be tolerated in a civilised and democratic nation such as Ghana.

The Number 12, according to Today’s findings, captures on tape top Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials taking bribes to enrich themselves. That is not all; the video also shines light on some local referees who take bribes as low as GHC20 to influence matches.

But the methodology employed by the ace journalist has come under heavy criticisms, following his latest documentary, which has so far implicated the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi.

Following the private viewing of excerpts of the video by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and some top officials at the Presidency, it emerged that Mr Nyantakyi was allegedly negotiating for an amount of money using the name of the President and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The President then called on the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate Mr Nyantakyi for allegedly defrauding by false pretence.

Mr Nyantakyi who was by then in Morocco turned himself in to the police and was granted bail later.

Today’s public viewing, which is strictly by invitation, is in three phases. The first viewing will start at 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., followed by 5:00 p.m.,-8:00 p.m., and climaxed by the 8:00 p.m.,- 10:00 pm.
