Deal with corruption – Akufo-Addo tells Civil Service Council

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has charged members of the new Civil Service Council to deal with the endemic corruption in the Service.

The President made the comments after the eight-member Civil Service Council was sworn into office at a short ceremony at the Flagstaff House.

The eight member team is chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge and nominee of the President, Justice Rose Constance Owusu.

The Members include the Head of the Civil Service, Nana Kwasi Agyekum Dwamena, National Development Planning Commission, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature, Justice Henrietta Abban, Retired Senior Civil Servant, Mr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, nominee of the President, Mrs Mary Emelda Amadu, nominee of the President, Mr. Isaac Tetteh Adjovu.

The President after administering the Oath of Allegiance, the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to members of the Council charged them to execute their duties in line with the provisions of the 1992 constitution that set them up and to ensure that the many challenges of the Civil Service is dealt with.

He added that they should at all times perform their duties devoid of partisanship and partiality.

In her response, Chairperson of the Council, Retired Supreme Court Judge and nominee of the President, Justice Rose Constance Owusu assured the President that the Council will not let him down.

She added that they will carry out their duties with diligence and abide by the Oaths that they have taken.
