The father of 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdullah, who was tragically killed in Kasoa by two young men in an attempt at a money ritual, has urged the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization to step up efforts to prevent media outlets from promoting schemes that double money.

He thinks these advertisements endanger public safety and act as an incentive for illegal activity.

Recalling the Ministry's previous efforts to stop these damaging advertising practices, especially on TV stations, Frank Mensah Abdullah advocated for the expansion of this crackdown to encompass radio stations as well.

“The government must embark on an exercise to clamp down on radio stations that advertise money rituals and money doubling. I remember the Minister of Communication and Digitalisation began an earlier exercise. They must continue the exercise again to deal with stations that are into such practices. This will prevent others from engaging in such acts.

Nicholas Kini, who was 18 at the time of the crime, had just received a life sentence, which gave Abdullah some relief.

Abdullah expressed displeasure with the way Kini's 15-year-old accomplice was handled by the legal system, though, as he was sent to a juvenile court.

He asked legislators to take into account updating the laws pertaining to juvenile sentencing for major offenses.

“We have indeed had judgment, and we must come together as a family. The issue has put my family into debt. We are trusting God for something good.

“We thank the judges for bringing the matter to a logical conclusion. The government must take a second look at the law that refers a juvenile to a juvenile detention center. They must revisit the laws,” a report by citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said.
