Former deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson has added his voice to the debate surrounding the depreciating rate of the cedi

According to him, the Vice President Dr. Bawumia who parades himself as one of the country’s best economist is just engaging in deceitful, misleading arguments.

In a press release available to Ghanaweb.com, Mr Forson says “The Vice President Bawumia has gained notoriety over the years for abusing public trust in his supposed credentials to peddle outrageous untruths about the Ghanaian economy”

Former president John Mahama is reported to have said over the weekend that, the cedi is depreciating at a faster rate under this current government than it did under his government.

This statement has generated a lot of controversies as to whether the cedi is depreciating and the rate at which is it as compare to the previous administration.

Responding to the Vice President’s comment on the cedi depreciation, Mr Forson says, “rather than focusing on “arresting the cedi” and attending to the legitimate concerns of businesses, Dr. Bawumia has again swung into propaganda mode in reaction to a simple tweet by Former President Mahama that only sought to remind him gently about his own past views on the depreciation of the cedi”.
