Women at Dedeso Market in Akyem Begoro, within the Fanteakwa North Constituency, have raised serious concerns about the deteriorating state of the market infrastructure and road network in their area.

They revealed that the market lacks essential facilities such as stalls and sheds, forcing them to sell their goods directly on the ground under difficult weather conditions, whether under the scorching sun or during heavy rains.

The women indicated that the inadequate infrastructure has led to a significant decline in customer numbers, as many buyers now prefer markets with better amenities. During heavy rains, the market area often becomes flooded, making it nearly impossible to continue sales.

Another pressing issue raised was the poor condition of the roads leading to the market. The roads are filled with deep potholes and uneven surfaces, making transportation to and from the market challenging and causing damage to their goods.

This situation has not only led to financial losses but has also exposed them to frequent armed robberies on the road from Begoro to Dedeso, a problem they attribute to the poor road conditions.

"We are also dealing with animals invading our market, eating our goods freely due to the lack of proper stalls and fencing," the women shared, adding that nearby towns and villages have stopped coming to Dedeso for business due to these unfavorable conditions.

Expressing their disappointment, the women noted that they have repeatedly appealed to the government for improvements to the market and roads but have seen no action taken.

They are now calling on the authorities to address these pressing issues to improve their livelihoods and enable the market to thrive.

The women also urged the government to fulfill its promises to uplift the Dedeso community, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure development to enhance their daily lives and economic opportunities.
