Defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for Mion, Dr Mawia Zakaria, is heading to court to challenge the results of the primary.
Dr. Zakaria lost the elections to his main rival Mohammed Abdul Aziz by just 13 votes. He contends the results are questionable because of some anomalies on some of the electoral materials.
According to him, he will demand a recount of the results by seeking a court order.
“We are seeking for a recount of the ballot,” Dr Zakaria told Starr News. “According to the laws of Ghana, when results are collated, and the ballots are brought to the collation centre it is a court order that will allow for a recount.”
“We have issues with the statement of polls… the collation in the statement of claim differs from the figures.”
Meanwhile, the ruling NDC has asked all defeated candidates to resort to internal structures to resolve their differences.
