The Wa West Constituency of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been hard hit once again with massive defection.

With barely five and a half months to go for the December polls, Constituency executives of the NDC in the Wa West constituency have all defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

These top NDC party guns claim to have opted to join the NPP, after the West Constituency Chairman, Mr. Seidu Jaladeen alias confidence had defected along all the executives who worked under him.

Surprisingly, he is now the campaign manager of the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Mr Dary Kuusongo and playing a significant role to ensure total victory for the Parliamentary candidate and Nana Akufo-Addo in this year’s elections.

Apart from the top party hierarchy members of the NDC who have defected to the NPP, several other staunch supporters have also joined the bandwagon.

The seriousness of the defection has called for an immediate constitution of an interim constituency executives of the party to oversee the running of it’s affairs towards the upcoming December polls.

As if that was not enough, all the sub and ward Chairmen of the NDC have all deserted the party to join the elephant family, explaining that the impressive performance of the NPP convinced them to leave.

As part of his tour of the northern region, Nana Akufo-Addo and his campaign addressed a durbar after he had paid a courtesy call on the Wechiaw Naa, Naa Imori Nandon.

He observed that records in the recent past elections shows that the Upper East Region consistently refuses to vote for the NPP and pleaded for the trend to change.

Nana Akufo-Addo asked the people to critically examine the numerous infrastructural developments the government has given to them and vote in their numbers for the NPP in this year’s elections.

The Former Foreign Affairs Minister described the situation as unfortunate saying that in the olden days, the Busia-Danquah tradition used to command a lot of electoral votes from the region.

Should he win power in the December polls, Nana Akufo-Addo promised to support the total transformation of the region with innovative development programmes to better their social and economic conditions.

With the oil revenue available in the near future, the NPP Presidential candidate pledged to strategically create the atmosphere for massive private sector participation in his northern development programme.
