Accra, Sept. 25, GNA - The misunderstanding surrounding the Ministry of Defence's purchase of helicopters from Wellfind Limited of the United Kingdom has been resolved, a statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Christopher Mcdowell, Director of Wellfind said.
The statement said: "Wellfind Ltd. of the UK has been monitoring the press coverage in Ghana regarding a contract signed between Wellfind Ltd. and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Ghana.
"We would like to state that there were misunderstandings between the various parties thereby delaying the commencement of the purchase procedure.
"These misunderstandings have been thoroughly cleared up and our contract, which had been hitherto suspended, has been reinstated. "We are, therefore, in the process of meeting the terms of our contract with the Ministry of Defence for the purchase procedure to commence."
The statement said the relationship between Wellfind and the Ministry was very cordial and the Company was looking forward to delivering the required helicopters as per the contract. The Company said it had expressed interest to participate in future projects with the Ministry.
The Minority Chief Whip, Mr Doe Adjaho had expressed concern about the purchase of two Russian made helicopters and indicated the possibility of Ghana incurring unnecessary costs from the way the contract was being handled.
The Ministry came out to deny any such possibility and explained that the delay was to enable due diligence checks.
