Denkyiraman celebrates 40 days rites of Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III

The Denkyira Traditional Council has announced plans for the celebration of 40 days rites of the passing of the late king of Denkyira, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III.

The 3 day ceremony in to be held from 31st May to 2nd June 2018 in Jukwa will bring together several traditional rulers across the country and will be graced by the President.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Former Presidents J. A. Kufuor ,J. J. Rawlings and J. D. Mahama are also expected to attend. Among activities lined up are a Private Mass for family members and traditional Council and a parade of Asafo groups on the 31st of May, Wake Keeping and warriors nite on the 1st June and the sitting in state of Denkyiraman on June 2nd.

The chief who reigned for 61 years from 1955-2016 died at age 94 after a period of ill health .

Odeefuo Boa-Amponsem III ascended the throne at age 33 and his reign saw massive development and successful wars of conquest.

He was also noted for his bravery especially in bringing the paramountcy stool from Jukwa in the Hemang Lower Denkyira area to the Upper Denkyira area specifically at Dunkwa-On Offin after the abdication of the the stool by Owusu Bori II, his predecessor in 1953.

The date for the final funeral rites will be announced after rhe Forty days rites.
