Denounce vigilante groups to resist Libya crisis in Ghana – Asiedu Nketia tells NPP

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Vice President of the Socialists International, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has described the ongoing Libya African slave trade, as an example of vigilantism, the Akufo-Addo’s administration is refusing to control in Ghana.

To him, the notorious boys in Libya emerged out of a vigilante group that were not controlled by their president.

The General Secretary further stated that “human trafficking was in no more in existence but lack of control and ambitions for power had paved way for gangsters to dehumanise fellow black Africans.”

According to him “Those involved in the alleged slave trade are criminals who have taken control of Libya, after they succeeded in killing their leader, Muammar Gaddafi on October 20, 2011.”

Briefing the media, in Accra, on the resolutions adopted by political parties belonging to the Socialists International at a recent meeting in Spain last week, Mr Asiedu Nketia indicated that, Libya’s injustice should serve as a deterrent to president Akufo-Addo, to call off all vigilante groups that were causing mayhem in the country.

According to Mr Asiedu, “Ghana risks jeopardizing its security if activities of vigilante groups are not stopped, adding that human traffickers, drug barons, and other illicit business dealers use such vigilante groups to perpetuate their activities.”

He said, “The activities of vigilante groups used to be prevalent only during electioneering campaigns, but the current situation in the country is getting out of hand.”

The maverick politician called on all Ghanaians to rise against the increasing activities of vigilantism in the country.
