Twifo Praso (C/R), Dec. 5, GNA - Mr Abraham Odoom, Deputy Minister of Health has been elected by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest the Twifo-Ati-Morkwaa parliamentary seat next year.
Mr Odoom was elected in absentia an NPP delegates' conference held at Twifo- Praso. He polled 55 votes, as against 22 ballots by Mr Samuel Agyeibie-Kessie, the District Chief Executive. A third contestant Mr Kwamena Baffoe Sly got a single vote.
Later in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Odoom said the constituency would work hard to wrestle the seat from the National Democratic Congress in the 2008 general elections.
He thanked the delegates for the honour done him and hoped they would intensify their campaign to win the seat for the Party, adding that by voting for him in absentia, they had shown the confidence they had in him.
He promised to work harder than before to justify the confidence reposed in him, and pledged that if elected he would lead a crusade for the "economic emancipation of the district".
