Businessman and media mogul Dr Osei Kwame Despite has denied claims that he is backing Odo Broni in the ongoing dispute following the death of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
Breaking his long-held silence in an audio shared by Fadda Dickson on December 29, 2025, Despite described the allegations as surprising and unfounded.

He stressed that his involvement with the family has been purely supportive and respectful since the musician’s death.
“Charles was a close associate for a long time. When his death happened, I went to commiserate with the family and gave them GH¢100,000 to support the family. I gave the money to them in public and not privately,” Despite stated.
He explained that after making the donation, he had no further interaction with the family until he received a call from Akosua Serwaa (Lumba’s first wife), who was then arriving from Germany ahead of the one-week observation.
“I didn’t have any interactions with the family after that until I received a call from Serwaa in Germany informing me of her arrival for the funeral,” he explained.
According to him, Serwaa even visited him with her children after paying a visit to Daddy Lumba’s house.
“Serwaa, upon her arrival, came to greet me with her kids after visiting Charles’ house. Few days before the one-week observation, I was planning a trip to Holland for a funeral, which also clashed with the date for Charles’ funeral,” he said.
He noted that, despite his absence from the one-week observation, he continued to offer support.
Kwame Despite firmly rejected the assertion that he has been supporting one side (Odo Broni’s faction), in the reported family disagreement, insisting he has remained neutral throughout.
“I gave money and a car to Papa Shee to be given to Serwaa. I don’t have an issue with anyone, so I'm surprised at the claims that I am supporting someone. It is a curse for me to even do such a thing. I've never spoken to Serwaa nor Odo Broni’s lawyer, and do not know what is happening. I haven’t spoken against anyone,” he insisted.
