Detective Sergeant Modestus Amevor launches books on criminal investigation and human rights

On 29th June, 2024, at Nsawam, friends, family, colleagues, and the general public joined Detective Sergeant Modestus Amevor to launch his latest two phenomenal books: PRACTICAL GUIDE ON CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION and KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A SUSPECT.

In his speech, he reiterated that his motivation for writing the books is to help equip his fellow detectives and law enforcement officers with current practices and procedures in criminal investigation and also to enlighten citizens on their rights, so that they can assert these rights when they find themselves in conflict with the law.

Know Your Rights as a Suspect, answers to frequently asked questions, and also seeks to empower citizens to be informed about their fundamental human rights and to assert them in pursuit of justice.

The chairman of the occasion, ACP (RTD) Dr. Benjamin Agordzo, who launched the two books, encouraged civilians and security officers alike to know their rights, so that they will not be disadvantaged by the criminal justice system.

He added that even though he does not wish for anyone to find themselves on the wrong side of the law, he urged the public to acquire these important books since they will aid them in knowing what to say at what point in time, what to do, and what not to do, even when one has counsel.

The author, Detective Sergeant Modestus Amevor, is a seasoned Criminal Investigator and a Police Intelligence officer in the Ghana Police Service.

He had his basic education at Kedzi A.M.E. Zion Basic School, Volta Region, where he was the school prefect and emerged as the best student, with a record aggregate.

He continued to Anlo Senior High School, also in the Volta Region, for his secondary education. He was the Assistant School Prefect there too.

Modestus Amevor is a product of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Administration and a Diploma in Public Administration.

In his quest to seek further knowledge in law, he pursued a vigorous post-first degree Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Professional Studies Law School (UPSA LAW SCHOOL). He is co-founder of Kedzi Youth Association (KeYA), a youth empowerment community-based NGO at Kedzi, his hometown.

In 2021, Amevor published a book on employment opportunities in Ghana, plus 101 Practical Ideas to Set Up Your Own Business.

These two phenomenal books are his latest additions. He has other books coming up.

He reads and writes as a hobby.

He is currently stationed at Nsawam District CID. He is a critical thinker and strong advocate for the economic development of the youth.
