Diagnostic Herbal Clinic is making inroads in herbal medicine treatment, with the centre gaining popularity in herbal treatment of chronic diseases in the country such as HIV.
The clinic has become a one-stop shop for people living with chronic diseases and would want to try something aside orthodox healthcare in the country.
The diseases treated or managed at the clinic include HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, prostate enlargement, infertility, asthma, hypertension, diabetes, STIs, arthritis, malaria, vaginal discharge, menstrual problems, sexual weakness, among others.
Others are typhoid fever, jaundice, high cholesterol, liver disorders and kidney infections, ulcer, fibroid, numbness, mild stroke and managements of sickle cell.
The centre has been in existence for only four years but is already living its dream of making herbal medicine an efficient alternative and affordable choice for all.
“Since we started full operations of running our clinic, most of patients have seen much more tremendous improvement in various treatments,” Dr Yaw Owusu Gyapong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Diagnostic Herbal Clinic in Takoradi, said.
Genesis
Narrating the clinic’s genesis, Dr Gyapong said it all began at Konkonuru, a town near Aburi, with his grandmother who was treating people around the community with herbs.
He indicated that his interest in herbal medicine grew as he helped his grandmother treat people with chronic diseases, and soon began to change the phase of preparation of herbal medicines.
With a background in Mechanical Engineering, Yaw Owusu Gyapong started his clinic by undergoing a series of training with Drug Analysis and Quality Control Unit at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
Dr Gyapong then went to help establish a standard practice to support the clinic at Takoradi after his training at India and China to understand economic benefits of herbal medicine.
Through his efforts, the clinic has an out-patients department (OPD) laboratory, scan, aromatic therapy, physiotherapy, (fitness & massaging) and consulting room
He said the clinic uses massage (manual and machine and works) to give the patients the right diagnosis through its sophisticated diagnosis equipment managed by certified doctors, nurses, scientists and herbal practitioners with long standing practice.
