The decision by Organised Labour to suspend its planned nationwide strike on October 10, 2024, has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media.
The announcement came just hours before the strike was set to begin, following a crucial meeting between labour leaders and the government on October 9, 2024.
The news, however, has been met with mainly negative reactions from netizens who accused the group of being insensitive to the matter at hand.
Many used the term, "disorganised labour."
"Your disgraceful decision won’t stop us! We, the youth and concerned citizens, will continue to hit the streets—again and again—until our demands are met," one user tweeted.
"Organized Labour in a strict sense, is not that truly organized."
"Organized Labour has failed us!!!!!!"
"Sad to hear organized labour has halted their strike. It would have sent a strong warning to these Thieves. Threats and compromise. Smh."
"Organized Labour in a strict sense, is not that truly organized," and "Organized Labour is only united when it comes to their salary!" were some of the reactions on X.
Earlier, the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), and other institutions had already indicated their non-interest in the strike, which some users saw as a sign of disunity within the union.

I’ve walked for three days straight, protesting the destruction of our lands and future, only for Organized Labour to shamefully suspend the strike we counted on.

It's no surprise that organized labour called off their strike. It seems they prioritize their interests. When it comes to national issues, they are easily influenced to back down, but when it comes to their working conditions, they stand more united than ever. Such corrupt group https://t.co/v9YhEcgasy
