Senchi, Feb 2, GNA - Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Eastern Region Minister, has urged District Assemblies to sponsor the youth in their areas to do courses that are related to tourism. He said as the region positioned itself to become a tourism hub it needed infrastructure, skills and competencies to man the tourism industries that are springing up.
Speaking at a sod cutting ceremony for a 100-room hotel facility expansion of the Senchi Resort in the Asuogyaman District, he said the development of tourism would create jobs for many youth depending on their qualification and that would require support from the assemblies. He said the sponsorship package would not be free but would be an arrangement with the beneficiaries to pay back in instalments later when employed.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) had taken over the administration of the EREDEC Hotel in Koforidua to run a hospitality Training School and urged assemblies to take advantage of that and invest in their youth. He appealed to traditional leaders in the region to stop using disputes to block the chances of investments that would improve economic activities of the area. 02 Feb. 10
