The much talked-about disunity within the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could be described as a perception, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Kyeremeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West, has said.

Mr Ameyaw-Kyeremeh was speaking to the Media on Saturday in Sunyani after the declaration of the Sunyani West Constituency results of the Party’s presidential primaries for Election 2016.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo overwhelmingly won that Constituency with 736 ballots, representing 94 per cent of 782 valid votes cast with Mr Allan John Kwadwo Kyerematen scooping 36 votes, while Francis Addai Nimoh, MP for Asante Mampong, had six votes with three rejected ballots.

The Sunyani West MP stated Nana Addo’s victory in terms of percentage in the Constituency was a clear manifestation that the entire NPP family “is solidly behind him.”

He appealed to the losing candidates and their supporters to willingly and wholeheartedly support Nana Addo, because political parties could only progress in victory with large following.

Mr Ameyaw-Kyeremeh argued if any of the losing candidates had won, each would have expected Nana Addo and his followers to rally behind them, saying that “now is the time for Allan Kyerematen, Addai Nimoh and their followers to exhibit their real love for the NPP to go into Election 2016”.

Lawyer Kwame Twumasi-Awuah, an activist and former Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive under ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, said Nana Addo’s victory in the Sunyani West “is emphatic” and implied “there is unity and not cracks in the NPP”.

As at the time of filing this report, unconfirmed results from some of the Constituencies in the Region indicated Nana Addo obtained 200, Addai Nimoh, five and Allan Kyerematen 10 votes in the Dormaa West, while in the Banda Constituency, it was 175, one and 13 votes respectively for Nana Addo, Addai Nimoh and Allan Kyerematen.

In Sene East, Nana Addo garnered 256 votes, Addai Nimoh seven and Allan Kyerematen 15, whereas in the Asutifi North, Nana Addo had 371 votes, Addai Nimoh zero and Allan Kyerematen 11.

Voting in the Sene West was Nana Addo, 286, Addai Nimoh, five and Allan Kyeremateng, 10 votes whilst Jaman North was 385, 13 and 47 in that order for Nana Addo, Addai Nimoh and Allan Kyerematen.

Nana Addo scooped 470 votes in the Asunafo North with Addai Nimoh and Allan Kyerematen receiving zero and 14 votes each whilst in the Techiman South it was 676 for Nana Addo, Addai Nimoh 10 and Allan Kyeremateng 56.

Voters in the Asunafo South gave Nana Addo 470, Addai Nimoh zero and Allan Kyerematen 14 votes.
