The Divine Intervention Prayer Centre at Darkuman, a suburb of Accra, has donated assorted items to the Chosen Children Orphanage to put smiles on their faces during the festive season.
The items include biscuits, mini bags of rice, edible oil, bathing and washing soap, assorted drinks and an undisclosed amount of money.
Prophetess Naomi Ampomah Baffour, the Leader/Founder of the Centre, said the items were procured through voluntary contributions by members.
She encouraged Ghanaians to be compassionate on the less privileged and provide for their need just as “Christ, our Saviour, did for mankind.”
Madam Gertrude Mensa-Bonsu, the Proprietress of the Orphanage, expressed appreciation to the church for the kind gesture and said the items would go a long way to relieve the plight of the children.
Madam Mensa-Bonsu said the Orphanage, which was initially established as a rehabilitation centre in 2008, was developed into an orphanage about eight years ago.
She said the orphanage, which currently had 65 orphans aged two to 21 years, faced a lot of challenges including inadequate finances to feed the children, payment of utility bills and school fees, and medical care.
She, therefore, made a passionate appeal to governmental and non-governmental organisations and individuals to assist the Orphanage with computers and a vehicle for outreach programmes.
Madam Mensa-Bonsu thanked Sonnie Badu, a UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician, for his continued support to the Orphanage.
