Do more for our communities – Chief's appeal

The Paramount Chief of the Paga Traditional Area, Pe Charles Awiah Awumpaga ll, welcomed the Minister and her entourage with commendations to President Nana Akufo-Addo for considering a woman for the position of the Upper East Regional Minister

He also heralded the government for their life-changing policies and appealed to the government to “do all it can to ensure that the policies are implement to improve the lives of Ghanaians”.

Pe Awiah Awumpaga ll assured the Regional Minister of his support for her tenure. He advised against acts that will undermine the development of the region.

He said “I will advise that you do away with things that will slow the progress of this region. A government can be good but without the help of good administrators and managers, nothing can be achieved.”

The Chief appealed for improvement in infrastructure deficit in the area. He called for an improvement in roads and the provision of a quality healthcare delivery system for his area.

Naba Anthony Abisa Anonsona Atasige ll, Chief of Mirigu, in his speech, lauded government for some of its policies and appealed to the government, through the Minister, for the construction of dormitories for the Mirigu Senior High School.

He said the lack of dormitory facilities at the school is greatly hampering effective teaching and learning. Naba Abisa Anonsona Atasige ll added that security is paramount in the development of Mirigu and the construction of a befitting police station to replace the "one room” facility in the area will be greatly welcomed.

"We will also welcome assistance to build boarding facilities for the Mirigu Senior School which is our only community senior high school. The lack of the dormitories is greatly affecting academic work in the school. Students have to travel long distances to school every day because they live far away from school. For now, the community has helped in providing shelter for students who come from far”.

“We will also welcome help in the construction of a police station for the area. Our “one room” police station facility is not befitting”. He appealed.
