Kumasi, April 7, GNA - Mr. Kwame Yeboah, an Assistant Registrar of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has warned parents about paying monies to persons who pose as "front men" to enable them get admission for their children who may have fake results.
He said "even if such 'contractors' help you in getting admission for your children with fake results, when found out later the candidate would be expelled from the school and this will make you loose your money."
Mr Yeboah was speaking at the close of the first ever orientation course for final year students of all the 18 senior high schools (SHS) in the Kumasi metropolis organized by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) of KNUST in collaboration with the Regional Education Directorate.
The three-day programme was aimed at giving the students the opportunity to have first hand information with regard to selection of courses, make informed decision about their choice of courses as per their general interest and flare.
Mrs. Vesta Adu-Gyamfi, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Art, urged the students not to be influenced by their peers to choose courses but look at what they would like to do or where their interest was as well as their grade. Mr. Ralph Nyadu-Addo, Industrial and Professional Relations Officer for CASS, commended the schools for attending the maiden edition of the programmme in their numbers and said it was going to be a yearly affair and would be extended to other regions.
He called for a closer collaboration between the Ghana Education Service (GES), CASS and all other stakeholders in the education sector to help spearhead the agenda of enhancing development of education.
