Director of Education at the Ledzorkuku-Krowor Municipality (LEKMA), Gloria Naa Ahinee Clerk, has sent a word of caution to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) to desist from using school children as baits for their personal gains
Mrs. Clerk said most NGOs have been using school children to portray to the world that they are doing their work when they are not.
“We don’t want groups, NGOs to use our children because they need the numbers to portray to the world that they are really working. The school children have come from homes and they belong to parents and so whatever we do, we must look at the background of these children,” she cautioned.
She advised that NGOs to collaborate with teachers and parents of these school children and give them feedback on the involvement of their children in the activities of the NGOs and not only getting the children to wear their T-shirts for the cameras.
“We don’t want a situation where NGOs get the children to wear their T-Shirts and later leave them and move to another school because school children are easy to get,” she added.
Mrs. Clerk was speaking at the launch of L’aine Foundation and entrepreneurship club in Accra on Friday.
