Accra, Jan. 26, GNA - The Inspector-General of Police, Nana Owusu-Nsiah, said on Wednesday that investigations into the death of Alhaji Mohammed Mobila, the Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party, have been completed and the docket sent to the Attorney-General's Department for study and advice.
A statement issued by the IGP said the Police were also investigating three other cases of murder, which occurred during the same period. Referring to the death of Alhaji Mobila at Tamale, shortly after the December 7 elections, the IGP said investigations into a case of that nature had to be thorough and painstaking. "It is in practice not as easy as it is sometimes portrayed in discussions in the media," he said. Nana Owusu-Nsiah said when the police received information about the murder of Alhaji Mobila, a Special Task Force from the CID was constituted to prepare the grounds for an inquest and to continue with the normal patient and thoughtful investigations. He said among other steps, a pathologist from outside the Northern Region was flown to Tamale to conduct the usual pathological examinations. "It has also to be noted that procedural investigation steps, like scene of crime examination, interviews and interrogation of witnesses, cross-checking informants and professional analysis of all information gathered have to be done in accordance with the laws of evidence.Accra, Jan.
