An Accra based Medical Doctor has rescued a 17 year old girl from the hardship imposed on her by her father and step mother but seeks fund from the geneal public to help him cater for the girl.

Bernice Lebene, a brilliant but needy Junior High School (JHS) graduate was saved by Dr Livingstone Kpotosu from the cruelty by her father and step mother.

In an up-close interview with Dr. Livingstone, he said, here’s a story about a brilliant young girl ( Bernice Lebene Aglanoo) from a poor background who had aggregate 10 in her B.E.C.E. Despite her brilliance, Bernice has been neglected by her family.

Her father and step mother often abuse her, including beating, denying of food, shelter etc, compelling her to leave home. This poor 17years old girl came to Accra to live with her dad and step mother.

According to the doctor, the poor girl had completed primary 6 at that time and spent several months out of school just because her step mother was against her going to school due to unknown reasons.

Bernice skipped JHS 1& 2 but was determined to sit for her final exams together with her colleagues. Even though she was out of school for almost 3 years, she sat for the B.E.C.E and passed with aggregate 10, he added.

The victim got admission into Mawuli Senior High School-Ho last year but the family refused to help her further her education. Despite all the miseries, Bernice then decided to go into small scale business.

She produces hand-made sandals she sells in Dansoman community and has managed to use her savings to purchase some few books if she gets the opportunity to go to school. All attempts to have a word with her father proved futile.

Just recently, Bernice has been abused physically by her dad who left her with a swollen face and lips, she is currently receiving treatment due to the swollen face and lips.

I feel this young girl has a very bright future. I hope this story will touch your heart. Let’s all help in any way that we can to help
