Doctors urge govt to mitigate effects of fuel increment

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) on Sunday called on the government to expedite action on measures to mitigate the effects of the recent increases in the prices of petroleum products.

The doctors acknowledged that although the increase was inevitable, it had the potential to cause some hardships to the public.

A communiqu? the Association issued at the end of its first representative board meeting at Cape Coast from the 17th to 19th of this month it called on the government to initiate steps to conclude negotiations on remunerations and conditions of service for health professionals.

It said the Ministry of Health should take a holistic and equitable view in the distribution of vehicles to health institutions and personnel.

The communiqu? urged the Government to facilitate the operations of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ghana.

It commended the National Reconciliation Commission for the work it has so far done and called on the public to offer their full co-operation to it.
