Veteran media practitioner, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has expressed displeasure with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, over the country's decision to receive some deported West Africans from the US.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on October 8, 2025, Kwesi Pratt Jr cautioned the minister to respect the dignity of Ghanaians.
According to him, Ablwakwa shouldn't serve Ghana as a dumping ground where the USA could infiltrate with deported nationals of other West African countries.
"Ghana should not be the dumping ground for any country anywhere. And it doesn't matter whether what is being dumped is ex-occupants of the Guantanamo Bay prison, deportees, or second-hand clothing. Ghana should not become anybody's... And that's a principle we should uphold," he said.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr further noted that the minister's way of conducting international relations is inappropriate, adding that he should raise and uphold the dignity of Ghanaians when carrying out his duties.

"We should conduct international relations in a manner which raises our dignity and upholds our dignity. First and foremost, our dignity as a people. Why do you begin to conduct international relations in the same manner, that things are prostituted, then there's a problem with foreign policy?
"So, there should be a principled stand; avoid dumping and every nation that we deal with, every authority that we deal with in the world must understand that our dignity as a people cannot be sacrificed for any other thing... This whole idea that in diplomacy we give something to gain something is very annoying... That is not the kind of foreign policy Nkrumah and others conduct. And the lightning principle is the protection of national sovereignty," he added.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr, while addressing the issue, reiterated that the minister should avoid prostituting foreign policy.

According to him, he has no problem with the reversal of the US visa ban on Ghanaians, adding that his issue is the dumping of deportees on Ghanaian soil.
"I don't have anything against the reversal of the ban. What I have something against is prostituting foreign policy. There are two different things. If the United States grants Ghanaians 20-year visa and so on, what do I care? But my dignity as a Ghanaian ought not to be sacrificed in order for those who want to go to the US for 5-year visa. My sovereignty cannot be compromised," he added.
