Accra President Jerry John Rawlings today appealed to entrepreneurs not to take advantage of ''weaknesses in the system'' to engage in dubious pursues. He said Ghana, like all developing countries, has not been able to establish an effective policing system to discourage unsound business practises. "Thus some businessmen, both local and foreign, are taking advantage of this to dupe the country,'' he said. He was speaking at the Castle, Osu, when Brigadier Gerald Blakey, Adviser to the British-based West Africa Committee which groups U.K. businessmen called on him. Its main function is to attract British businessmen to West Africa and members have wide ranging business interests in both Anglophone and Francophone countries.

The President said the government alone has not got the resources to identify and deal with unsound business operations. He said the West Africa Committee which has been in existence for 40 years can, therefore, assist the government to root out people who indulge in bad business. "You have to assist us to compel people to adhere to the right business conduct. You have a strong obligation to ensure that proper business is done taking into account the good track record
