Don't allow anyone to use you for his selfish interests - Bantemahene tells Journalists

Bantamahene in Kumasi, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI has called on journalists to be resolute and fair in discharging their duties and not to allow anyone to use them for his/her parochial interest.

According to the Former Board member of Asante Kotoko, journalists are treated as second class dignitaries at events where they have been legitimately invited, but without the journalist, mankind will be out in total darkness by way of dissemination of information.

Bantemahene was speaking at the launch of Ghana Journalists Association Ashanti Regional media awards launch and Get Together event in Kumasi,

"All sectors need Journalist. But unfortunately, some are not treated equally. Others will not enjoy any remuneration but rely on Soli"

"The time has come for the association to keep its house together. Apart from dissemination of information, they act as referees. You should not allow people to use your platform to bring people down and insult people. The person found of doing that must be stopped because he is anti-Ghanaian" He stated

Baffour Amankwatia VI also pleaded the media to focus much on sanitation and also promote local entrepreneurs rather than promoting foreign Businesses.

"Sanitation is a very serious problem in Ghana. Everywhere you go in Ghana. The time has come for proper education. Sanitation causes a lot of sicknesses, it also makes our environment dirty and also creates a wrong impression to visitors who visit our country. Please disseminate the effect of keeping a tide environment to the people"

He continued " Having also said that, our businessmen have problems. Somebody will come from Lebanon and he came empty-handed. three months time. He is a billionaire. Promote our business. Promote our footballers. If you promote a foreign investor he will take his money to his country."

He ended by advising the association( Media) to verify information before disseminating it to the public. As our parent mostly relies on them for information.
