Wa, Jan. 15, GNA- Mr Sahanun Mogtari, Upper West Regional Minister on Wednesday advised public officials not to allow their political inclinations to affect their official duties.
"As grown-ups and officers, I know you all belong to one political party or the other, but in so far as it does not conflict with our official duties nobody has a problem with you", he added.
Mr Mogtari who gave this advice at a dinner with heads of departments at the residency commended the workers for their support and cooperation over the past year and asked for closer collaboration for the development of the region.
He spoke against the peddling of falsehood and circulation of anonymous letters, which he said were some of the causes of division among workers.
"We shall not allow such divisive tendencies in our system as it will not help in our development drive," the Regional Minister said. Mr Mogtari said 2004 is an election year and called on every worker to support the search for peace and unity among the electorate. "You are the ears and eyes of society and therefore your contribution towards the maintenance of peace and unity is very paramount", he said.
The Regional Minister called on politicians to desist from lies and pursue workable policies and principles, which would encourage the electorate to vote for them.
