Don’t allow yourselves be forced out - Inusah Fuseini advises ‘Mugabe’ MPs.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tamale Central Constituency, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini has advised his colleagues MPs not to allow themselves to be forced out of their positions by losing in elections.

Alhaji Inusah believes the most appropriate and honourable way of exiting from key political positions including Member of Parliament position is for members to leave at their own terms.

“In politics, don’t be forced out. Never allow yourself to be forced out,” he advised in an interview on Yem Radio in Bolgatanga monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

His admonition comes on the back of his decision not to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress after serving for just 12 years.

According to him, former members of parliament who have picked nomination forms to contest in the primaries are doing so because they did not leave the house (Parliament) on their own terms.

“They are fighting to come back to leave on their own terms. That is why they are fighting to come back [because] they were defeated in primaries and some were defeated in main elections. So they didn’t want to leave politics and they were forced out. They have never accepted that defeat. They never left parliament on their own terms and so they are fighting to come back,” he said.

Citing himself as an example, the former Roads and Highways Minister disclosed that his decision to voluntarily exit hinges on his plans to exit on his own terms and to allow for others to take their turn and serve in same position.

“In my case, am leaving on my own terms and am at peace with myself and am very happy with that decision. I know it requires courage, conviction and singleness of purpose to take that decision.”

In citing other reasons for his exit, he noted that finishing his term after 14 years by December 2020 is enough to allow for the youth to take over and inject fresh ideas in representing the people of Tamale Central constituency.

He further passionately thanked his constituents for giving him the opportunity to serve and to parliament and his government for the exposure and opportunity to serve in various capacities while pledging to work relentlessly for the victory of Former President John Dramani Mahama in next year’s elections.

Inusah Fuseini is a trained Teacher and Lawyer, became a Member of Parliament (MP) through a by-election in 2006 after the incumbent Professor Wayo Seini defected from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The defection triggered a by-election in the Tamale Central constituency on April 4, 2006. He won the election with a majority of 17,502.

He successfully held his seat in 2008 with 66% of the votes cast and retained the seat in 2012 with 61% and in 2016 with 60% of votes cast.

He would have held the seat for 14 years by the time he leaves parliament.

Alhaji Inusah Fuseini also served as a Deputy Energy Minister, Lands and Natural Resources Minister and also Roads and Highways Minister under the Mahama administration and is currently the minority spokesperson on constitutional and legal affairs.
