Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Campaign Director of Communications for Dr. Bawumia, has issued a cautionary statement urging Ghanaians to remain vigilant and not succumb to deception from former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on the Next Chapter show, on the topic of unmasking the lies of John Mahama, Dennis Miracles Aboagye asserted that John Mahama and the NDC should not attempt to claim credit for the social intervention programs implemented by the NPP government.

John Mahama, during his media engagement on July 7, said the national health insurance scheme was piloted by the NDC in Damongo and Nkoranza but was implemented by President Kufour.

Explaining further, John Mahama said that the insurance scheme introduced under Kufour’s government was the mutual health insurance scheme which only allowed persons to access health care in districts where they registered.

He further clarified that the national health insurance scheme, which now grants access to individuals to seek health care in any part of the country, was implemented by former President John Atta Mills.

“Even the NHIS, NDC started the pilot in Damongo and Nkoranza for the NHIS. Implementation started in President Kufour’s time but what President Kufour introduced was a mutual health insurance scheme and so your NHIS card allowed you to access health services only in the district in which you were registered.

“Today’s national health insurance scheme was introduced by Prof. Mills. He changed it from a mutual district insurance scheme to a national health insurance scheme so that your card could access healthcare anywhere in Ghana you go,” Mahama told the media.

However, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has refuted these claims, describing them as outright lies and emphasizing that the Kufour-led NPP government implemented the National Health Insurance Scheme.

“It is never true that the NHIS was piloted by the NDC in Nkoranza and Damongo. It was the Catholic Church in collaboration with the community supported by a non-governmental organization to finance it,” Dennis Aboagye Miracles claimed.

Furthermore, he stressed that the government consolidated all district mutual schemes into one national health insurance scheme, providing an insurance card for use nationwide.

“What the National Health Insurance card did was that the card you use for your district was replaced and one could seek health services from anywhere across the country,” Aboagye explained.
