Agona Nsaba, C/R, Nov 19, GNA - Mr Theopilus Maranga, an Independent Candidate for Agona East Constituency, has called on the political activists to refrain from attacking personalities but rather talk about issues, which would salvage the economy.
He said the nation had reached a stage where politicians had to adopt pragmatic policies and programmes that could bring peace and prosperity to alleviate the suffering of the masses.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after touring Agona Nsaba, Duakwa and Mankrong Junction on his campaign trail, Mr Maranga asked the electorate to give him the mandate to represent them in Parliament to improve their living standards.
Mr Maranga, who is an Immigration Lawyer in New York City, USA, said it was unfortunate that some Parliamentarians relied solely on the government for the development of their constituencies instead of being innovative to look elsewhere for support.
He stated that when voted to Parliament he would link up with nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) outside the country to invest in the area to create jobs for the youth.
Mr Maranga, whose symbol is the "Cocoa Pod" said he only wanted to channel some of the "blessings God has given him" since he travelled outside the country two decades ago to the people in the Constituency, especially the youth, but not to amass wealth at their expense.
The Independent Candidate said he intended to deliver, adding,"some leaders have come and gone but because of their selfish gains and parochial interests. As for me that will not happen when I am voted to Parliament".
Mr Maranga stated that if the electorate wanted a better MP they should choose someone, who was selfless and devoted, who could plan strategies to help harness their God given talents.
