The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Mensa Otabil, has urged Ghanaian youth not to allow themselves to be exploited by politicians as foot soldiers in the lead-up to the pending general elections.

Speaking at the 2024 Greater Works Conference, Otabil encouraged the youth to view themselves as transformational leaders capable of making a positive impact on the world.

He emphasized that the current generation of youth should avoid repeating the mistakes of their predecessors in politics and instead strive to lead lives worth emulating.

“Don’t follow the bad examples you see; be a new example,” Mensa Otabil stated on Friday, August 3, 2024.

He added, “If you go into politics don’t be used as a foot solider fighting somebody’s battle, killing people, beating people just because of 20, 30 cedis and a plate of food you must eat.”

Otabil affirmed, “God is doing a new thing in your life. You’re a world changer, not a foot soldier.”

The one-week Greater Works Conference, which marked the conclusion of the church’s 40-day fast, was attended by a large number of congregants.
