The communications director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Yaw Buaben Asamoa has asked the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto committee not to review the Akufo Addo-led administration flagship free SHS policy.

This comes about after the NDC entreated Ghanaians and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to bring their ideas forth to develop a People's Manifesto for 2020.

“The 2020 manifesto Committee of the National Democratic Congress in its bid to develop a ‘People’s Manifesto’ that speaks to the direct needs and concerns of the people, wishes to announce the request for Policy Memoranda from the general public, Civil Society Organizations, Trade Unions, Associations and other identifiable groups in the country,” the statement read.

But Lawyer Buaben Asamoa reacting at a press conference yesterday 4th November 2019, wondered if the manifesto committee will not cancel the free SHS as it compiles its manifesto.

“One of the things I will also like to write to them (NDC)…I don’t know if am allowed to write many ideas since it is 30 million manifestos we are going to have, I don’t know whether to write to them not to review free SHS and cancel it. The manifesto committee should be careful not to review Free SHS by cancelling it …that idea is there in their minds and we hope they will not go in that direction,” he said.
