Former Municipal Chief Executive of Ejusu in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has issued a stern warning to the founder of Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko not to dare take his ‘arrogance’ to the Ashanti Monarch.
The vociferous National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart who said he was not surprised when Gabby’s name was mentioned among persons allegedly undermining the King of Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II accused the former of gaining notoriety in always peddling falsehood.
While observing that this could spell doom for the elephant family in the region considering the fact it is their “world bank”, he warned that they as indigenes will not sit aloof while their most revered chief is undermined.
“I wasn’t shocked when I heard Gabby’s name as one of those undermining our King. You can continue spewing garbage even after Mahama was voted out but don’t dare take your arrogance on Asantehene because the whole of Ashanti is angry.
“Gabby is such a disrespectful human being and should be careful when it comes to issues with the Ashanti. If you are disrespectful you cannot take your matters to Manhyia. I am using your platform to advise them to slow down because if they want to sight Asanteman they have a herculean task” he warned on Okay Fm.
News went viral on Thursday that Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was angry over attempts by some elements within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to use the current administration to run him down.
Names of Gabby and Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo were mentioned as those behind this plot.
But Mr Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, nephew to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said he is not stupid enough to undermine Asante monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as being alleged.
Responding to the allegation against him, he wrote on his Facebook page: “Am I so stupid that I would work against my own interest and turn one-half of me against the other half by inciting my mother’s people against my father’s people; that I would bite the very hand that feeds us politically? Perplexing”.
