Don't enjoy positions in isolation - Dr Agambilla

Ashaiman, Aug 31. GNA - Dr Gesika Agambilla, Deputy Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways on Sunday called on leaders not to enjoy their positions to the neglect of the entire people whom they are serving. He therefore, called on them to spearhead efforts at bringing together everybody in time of leadership and never to reign at their expense.

This is because such positions are seasonal and the very people neglected could be of assistance to them when they are not in power. He was speaking at a thanksgiving service to climax activities marking the 40th anniversary of the Grace Assembly of God Church at Ashaiman. It was celebrated under the theme: "Walking in love and unity, in the power of the holy spirit".

"You can enjoy pleasure, politicians as well, without your people but it is only for a season".

The Minister noted that the nation could make progress should leaders detach themselves from the people without being familiar with them. To achieve positive results, he entreated church leaders to constantly pray for the Lord's intervention for leaders in all sectors of the economy to choose the right path for the benefit all Ghanaians. He criticised the practice of some Ghanaians who frown on their culture by communicating to familiar people in foreign language, describing it as unfortunate.

Touching on the campaign against indiscipline, Dr Agambilla noted that discipline is vital to life because its neglect could lead to contracting diseases and other means to ruin their lives.

Delivering the sermon, Pastor Bismark Bansah, of the Madina District of the Grace Assemblies of God Church called for unceasing prayers in one's life since the most difficult times are periods close to victories.

To this end, he entreated Ghanaians, especially leaders to guard against complacency and rather work harder to face the struggles and challenges ahead in order not to land into problems that could tarnish their reputation in spite of successes chalked.

This calls for self-examination and sacrifices and the Lord's intervention to run smooth administration.

Reverend Samuel D. Ayamba of the Ashaiman branch of the Church urged Ghanaians to support government's efforts at reconciling the nation, since there is a price to be paid for reconciliation.

He stated that there is be no victimisation after reconciliation- forgiving and forgetting wholeheartedly adding that God used Christ to pay for mankind's reconciliation after which he was given to the Ministry.
