The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has served notice to former President Mahama never to compare his track record in office to that of President Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako stated that the record of President Akufo-Addo towers over that of former President Mahama and for that reason, would be suicidal for the latter to ignite such a political debate.

"Your record in office stinks like 'borla' (rubbish) and you want to start a record debate? Your track record in government was corruption and dumsor to start with. You ended up creating a mess in the banking sector amd you want to challenge an astute politician like President Akufo-Addo who has solved our energy crisis and minimized corruption? You must be joking or sleeping", Chairman Wontumi as he is referred to as said.

He continued that the 2020 election will not be about past records but rather, "the future and the candidate who has new ideas to offer. It will be about the person who will be able to create a buoyant economy, increase the housing, educational, and health sector."

Chairman Wontumi noted that with former President Mahama's "bad" record on corruption related matters, "most voters would also be looking forward to a leader who would be able to initiate a process to remove idemnity clauses to reduce various acts of corruption like President Akufo-Addo is doing".

He added that "any politician who talks about past records has no future to offer. This election will fought forward not backward".

Former President John Dramani Mahama, has said his party’s political campaign towards the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections will be based on the track record and achievements of the NDC.

According to him, “This year’s campaign would be issue based, it will be campaign of records, we shall compare our records and we shall compare the records of our friends and decide.”

The statement were contained in a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr Peter Boamah Otokonor, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC at the annual Danjuar festival of the Bimobas of Garu and Tempane Districts of the Upper East Region.
