Don't pay bribe for your ward's admission

Mampong (Ash), Jan 25, GNA - The Principal of the Asante-Mampong Midwifery and Health Assistant Training School, Mrs Lydia Yamoah, has appealed to parents seeking admission for their children in the school to=

report those who make bribe demands on them. She said they should help to expose such corrupt individuals to face disciplinary action when addressing the fifth matriculation ceremony for 406 new students.

One hundred and fifty-five of them are pursuing a three-year diploma in midwifery and the remaining 251 trained as health assistants. Mrs Yamoah cautioned against presenting fake examination results and said when caught offending students would be sacked.

She said already 10 students had been dismissed for faking West African Examination Council (WAEC) results to pursue midwifery training. The school's goal, she stated, was to turn out skilful, knowledgeable and competent health personnel, who would confidently provi= de effective health services in a more humane, friendly and efficient manner= .. She announced that 58 out of the first batch of 96 candidates presented for the health assistant certificate examination last year pass= ed, scoring 60.4 per cent. Mrs Yamoah said the school needed a dinning hall, students and staff accommodation and appealed to the government and the Asante-Mampong=

Municipal Assembly for support. Through the initiative of the parent-teacher association, they ha= ve built a two bedroom semi-detached tutors bungalow at the cost of GH¢60,= 000.
