Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah
The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has come under heavy criticism from some Ghanaians on social media for questioning President John Dramani Mahama's cabinet minister appointments.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Boamah stated that Ghanaians want to know the number of appointments made so far.
“Article 76 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana establishes the cabinet and its role in government. Mr. President, @JDMahama, Ghanaians would want to know the list of Cabinet Ministers you have appointed in your administration as the President of Ghana after your first cabinet meeting today,” he wrote.
His comment has since sparked criticism from some X users, who argue that no one asked him to speak on their behalf, urging Boamah to respect his position and refrain from making such statements on social media.
“Please, don’t put words in our mouths. When did we have that conversation?” one user wrote.
Another user added, “Masa, don’t come and lie on us. Who made you our spokesman?”
A third person commented, “If you have nothing to do, take a broom and sweep Parliament House!”
Another warned the MP, saying, “Can you guys kindly shut up already? You are annoying some of us who saw how stupid, evil, and wicked you were towards us. We begged you not to introduce bet tax and E-Levy, but you didn’t listen. You wasted our money on the National Cathedral. Now you remember we are Ghanaians? Useless people!”
“Please do not speak on our behalf. We respectfully ask you to refrain from doing so. You represent your constituency, not all Ghanaians. Your government's anger is still directed at us. You misused the funds you received from the IMF for your own selfish interests,” another added.
“Only two months in, and they are behaving like @JDMahama has been in power for ages. These guys had two solid terms and couldn’t achieve anything aside from FSHS. Now they are making demands just two months after leaving office, despite the mess they left behind. Very annoying—so, so annoying.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, officially announced the names of the cabinet members appointed by President John Mahama.
