Kumasi, Sept. 14, GNA - Madam Adwoa Afriyie, Public Relations Officer of Breast Care International, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has advised women not to resort to unorthodox ways of handling breast cancer.

She said diseases, which occur in the breasts must be reported to the hospitals and other health institutions for proper diagnosis. Addressing the Fourth National Convention of the Women's Missionary Society of the AME Zion Church in Kumasi on Saturday, Madam Afriyie said it was important for women to visit hospitals regularly for breast examination for the early detection of breast cancer.

She said the late detection of the disease could lead, not only to the cutting off the breast but could also lead to death.

Madam Afriyie pointed out that women who had not given birth before and those who delay in bringing forth children were prone to the disease.

Another source of the disease she said was through obesity and therefore advised women to desist from taking drugs for fatness and also asked those who do not use drugs to watch their eating habit. Mrs Agartha Mensah, a member of the society urged women to have faith in God and "walk in his ways so that he could take control of their lives."
