Don't sell your votes - NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has advised the people of Wulensi not to allow politicians to induce them with little gifts to access their votes.

Mr. Lord Commey, National organiser of the NPP who spoke at separate meetings when he introduced the party's candidate, Mr Karim Kofi Wumbei, for the March 4 Wulensi by-election said "your votes are very expensive that no amount of money can buy."

He said the NPP did not have money or gifts to share for people to vote for the Elephant, adding that as a government in power today, it would rather see to the socio-economic development of the people without any discrimination.

Monies that were meant for their infrastructure and economic development was what the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been sharing to them, Mr Commey said in a statement faxed to the GNA on Saturday.

"We as a party and government will never go the NDC way, we are serious minded people, very sensitive to the plight of the citizenry and for that matter would not shirk our responsibilities and renege on our promise to positively change the living standards of the people."

He said the NPP would continue to provide roads, schools, clinics, boreholes and streetlights for the people to serve the interest of both the young and the old living in the communities.

Mr. Commey said the NDC's propagandist politics of divisiveness and deceit should be a thing of the past, adding that Ghanaians today must live together in brotherliness to reflect the fact that they were one people, one nation with a common destiny.

He said the Nanumba District had a very bright future that only unity and co-existence could bring to manifestation.

Mr. Peter Magan Oggah, an independent candidate in the by-election who had decided to step down for Mr. Wumbei said he decided to give his votes to the NPP candidate because he (the NPP candidate) represented the truth, peace and development.

"Since we share the same aspirations for our people I think it is wise on my part to rather support my brother to achieve our common goal," he said.
