As Ghana heads into a crucial election this Saturday, Collins Owusu Amankwaa, the former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, has issued a strong plea to the citizens of the country.

In his statement, Owusu Amankwaa cautioned Ghanaians against being swayed by monetary promises being offered by the opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He emphasized the importance of making informed decisions that would not jeopardize the future of the country’s youth, particularly with regard to the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

“I urge all Ghanaians to be cautious. The NDC is offering money, but we must not compromise the future of our children for a mere 1,000,” Owusu Amankwaa warned.

His remarks come amidst reports that the NDC is attempting to win voters by making financial promises, especially in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.

The Free SHS program, introduced by the current government, has been hailed as one of the most transformative policies in recent years, significantly improving access to secondary education for thousands of students across the country.

Owusu Amankwaa, a strong supporter of the policy, expressed deep concern about the potential implications of an NDC victory.

“Voting for the NDC would put the Free SHS programme at risk. This programme has been transformative for countless Ghanaian families, and we cannot afford to lose it,” Owusu Amankwaa asserted.

He emphasized that the initiative has enabled many young Ghanaians to pursue secondary education without the financial burdens that previously deterred them.

For many families, the policy has been a lifeline, ensuring that their children have the opportunity to complete their education and build a better future.
