The Dorfor Traditional Council in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region has condemned the Paramount stool father of the area for his misconduct against the acting Paramount Chief, Togbe Adela Ananze Titriku XII.

The stool father, Godson Kwaku Ameka, last week held a press conference calling on the Acting Paramount Chief to step down, after 11 years in that position.

The stool father also issued a 14-day ultimatum to Togbe Adela Ananze to vacate the post, accusing him of thwarting efforts to enstool a new paramount chief for Dorfor.

However, at a Press conference at Juapong, the acting Paramount chief, who is also chairman of the Dorfor Traditional Council, said the Stool father has no such authority to demand his stepping down.

“There is no customary law in Dorfor which stipulates that on the demise of a substantive paramount chief or incapacitation or abdication, the paramount stool father becomes the regent,” he stated.

According to Togbe Adela Ananze, the action of the stool father, Mr. Ameka was tantamount to usurping the powers of the Kingmakers and circumventing the customary processes of the traditional area.

“In his attempt to obliterate, adulterate and change our history and thereby our traditional/customary practice, he and his cohorts fabricated this customary law to the distaste of the whole Dorfor. All stool fathers and Chiefs in Dorfor know this history and will therefore not allow him (Ameka) to have his way.”

The Traditional council through the Acting Paramount Chief, has therefore given a 7-day ultimatum to the embattle stool father to retract and render an unqualified apology to the Dorfor traditional council and Togbe Ananze in order for him, [Stool father] “to continue enjoying the support and respect of the traditional council.”

Also “Togbe Adela Ananze Titriku XII who is the head of the Amaflu clan and traditionally and customarily recognized as the custodian of the paramount stool will not be pressurized to step down for Godson Kwaku Ameka, someone he nominated and appointed,” the statement concluded.
