Dormaa Municipal Assembly to build classroom block

Kwabena-Dwomokrom (B/A), Aug. 14, GNA - Dormaa Municipal Assembly is to build a six-unit classroom block with an office and a store for Kwabena-Dwomokrom Local Authority Primary School. Mr. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the Municipal Chief Executive, said this when he inspected renovation works on the steel bridge over River Bia part of which got damaged, rendering the communities across inaccessible.

He told a meeting of chiefs and people of the area that the assembly's decision to build the school was largely influenced by the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Paul Peprah. Mr Asamoah said Ghana's quest for zero child labour on cocoa farms was partially dependent on availability and ready access to educational facilities and quality education.

He said the community and satellite hamlets deserved a common school to forestall long treks by minors to attend nearest schools. "Quality education remains a major priority of the NDC government and this can only be achieved where congenial environment for education is established in our communities for both teachers and pupils", he said.

At the bridge site Mr S. A. Nkansah, a technical director of Ghana Highway Authority, said the project would be completed within two months.

Mr Asamoah said the assembly would liaise with timber companies and contractors in the area to ensure that the bridge was not overburdened and destroyed again.
