Dormaahene offers land to construct office for new district

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Dormaahene, has donated a 33-acre piece of land towards the smooth take-off of the newly-established Dormaa-West District Assembly.

The land, located at Nkrankwanta, capital of the new district, will be used to construct the assembly's office and staff accommodation for the effective administration of the district.

Barima Dei Kusi Gyabaa, Ankobeahene of Dormaa Traditional Council, who stood in for the Dormaahene, announced this at the inauguration of the new Assembly recently.

He described the new district as ‘a blessing’ to the people and pledged the traditional council’s support and co-operation for its speedy growth.

The chief noted that even though government had indicated its support for the newly-created districts, it behooved on stakeholders to contribute their quota to complement that effort.

Barima Gyabaa gave the assurance that the Council would closely monitor the activities of the new district and offer advice to ensure adherence for due diligence, rule of law and promotion of unity and harmony in the area.

He urged management of the new district to encourage the engagement of local human and material resources rather than depending on external resources.

This suggestion if heeded to would reduce unemployment among the youth in the district, he said.**
