Samuel Adobah said drastic measures ought to be considered by stakeholders in support of government
Advocacy group, Network for Assin Development, a non-politician organization is calling on government to employ effective monitoring and supervisory mechanisms to ensure a successful implementation of the Double-Track Policy.
The Network In a statement is also calling on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDA) and Traditional Authorities to setup a joint-task force in their own capacity to support the policy, especially the rural areas.
The Double-Track was rolled out by government this year to expand access and enrollment to secondary education in the country inline with the Free Senior High School program.
With the introduction of the new policy which replaces the Single-Track regime, the first batch of students under the Green Track are expected to commence classes on November 8, for the 2018/2019 academic year.
Convener of the Network, Samuel Adobah in exclusive interview with Abdul-Hanan said the country’s education system faces a lot of challenges and stakeholders have a major role to play to address those challenges.
“We are calling on all stakeholders especially parents and teachers to ensure the smooth running of the policy in order not to destabilize academic work,” Mr Adobah said.
According to him, the rate of high school dropout is alarming coupled with infrastructural deficit lying specific emphasis in rural Ghana.
He added that, drastic measures ought to be considered by stakeholders in support of government efforts to improve Ghana’s educational system.
“Also Traditional leaders and parents should therefore ensure that district assemblies in collaboration with traditional leaders institute task-force to monitor various communities to assess and help improve teaching and learning,” he emphasized.
