Kumasi, Aug 15, GNA- Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Minister of Defence on Saturday inaugurated a 200-million cedi community clinic for the Moshie Zongo community in Kumasi with assistance from the European Union (EU). He also inaugurated a 10-seater place of convenience for the Moshie Zongo Metropolitan Assembly primary school constructed from his share of the common fund.

Inaugurating the two facilities, Dr Addo Kufuor, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia, said it was wrong for anybody to assume that the upbringing of children could be sacrificed for whatever reason. We must rather provide a congenial atmosphere to enhance their development, he pointed out.

Parents, Dr Addo Kufuor said, must therefore not be pre-occupied with the acquisition of material things to the detriment of their children's education and development.

He said the nation could only reach an appreciable level in its socio-economic development when children are nurtured to grow into responsible citizens.

The Defence Minister called for the protection of the rights of the child and said there was also the need for all Ghanaians to work out the best strategies that could prepare the children to take over from the older generation in future.

Dr (Mrs) Agatha Bonney, the Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Health Services, expressed the hope that the clinic would facilitate the health care delivery in the community and advised them to take good care of it.
