Accra, Sept. 22, GNA - Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, CPP Presidential Candidate for Election 2008 on Thursday admonished members with leadership ambitions to support the party with resources to enable it to perform creditably in Election 2012.
He said this and not mere talk or ambition to leadership positions would make the party relevant and see it through next year's Presidential and Parliamentary elections. "Some leading members wake up and say they want to become President but are not supporting the party in anyway," Dr Nduom added. He was speaking at the inauguration of Korley Clottey Constituency party office in Accra.
"They need to back their talk with actions and help build the party structures.
"There are many professionals who claim to be CPP, but sit in their offices silently and saying they are CPP members=85.Some even speak for oth= er political parties but they are silent when it comes to CPP issues. "Who should develop this party? If you claim to be CPP, let the whol= e world know that you are not only for the CPP but that you support the CPP indeed," he added.
Dr Nduom said those seeking to lead the party should also go through the political mill to gather the needed experience before they compete for top positions.
"You need to crawl before you walk and run=85You must know the ABC= 's of politics to move up, and I assure you that I have gone through that mill successfully.
"They should also go through the ranks to learn the rudiments of politics.
"Think how exciting Ghana's politics would be if you had leading members of the party competing for Parliamentary seats. "Those who want to lead this party must go through that contest," he said.
Dr Nduom urged leadership of the party to energise supporters and the communities to make the party successful and bring it into power again. He tasked executives of the Korle Clottey constituency to utilise the new office, which he personally furnished to announce the presence of the party and to win the seat for the party. "As long as the executives work hard, I would support the constituency", he said.
Dr Nduom called on all leading members of the party to support the national leadership to ensure the party's offices in all the 230 constituencies were functional before end of the year. He called on the national executives to make the party vibrant and attractive, while urging Ghanaians to join hands and bring the party into power again.
Dr Nduom pledged to make 60 constituency offices country-wide functional within six weeks to contribute to the rejuvenation of the party from the grassroots. Mrs Susan Adu Amankwah, First Vice Chairperson of CPP inaugurating the office urged the constituency executives to make the presence of the party felt in the area and make CPP relevant to the people.
