Embattled medical doctor, Dominic Obeng–Andoh, in whose hands a Deputy Chief Executive Officer for National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP) Stacy Offei Darko died, has been charged with murder.

Mr. Obeng-Andoh and his cleaner, Edward Amponsah, were on Tuesday put before an Accra District Court which has remanded them to two weeks in police custody to give investigators ample time to conclude investigations into the strange death of the 37-year-old woman.

Amponsah has been charged with impersonation, court documents sighted by 3News showed.

Plea of the two accused persons were not taken.

Lawyer for Mr. Obeng-Andoh, Jonathan Dzaisu, prayed the court presided over by Ms. Afua Sackey to grant the doctor bail, citing ill health as grounds but that was turned down by the judge, Ms. Afua Sackey.

He also pled with the court to order the prosecution to transfer Dr. Obeng-Andoh from the Police Hospital where he is currently on admission, to a different health facility.

The lawyer contended that even the facts of the case as presented by prosecution in court

Tuesday, did not support the charges leveled against his clients.

Police detective, Chief Inspector Simon Appiosornu told the court should Dr. Obeng-Andoh be granted bail, he would interfere with ongoing investigations.

The judge held the court even lacked jurisdiction to grant bail in such cases, and accordingly directed the lawyer to make the bail application at the High Court.

The case has been adjourned to June 12.

Dr. Obeng-Andoh, popularly referred to as Obengfo, who is the owner of the Advanced Body-sculpt Centre at Weija Junction in Accra is accused of murdering Ms. Darko at his facility on May 21.

Reports say the deceased walked into the Advanced Body-sculpt Centre after she complained of tiredness and was put on admission.

Her condition was said to have deteriorated after she was allegedly given injection.

She died later.

Dr. Obeng-Andoh allegedly embalmed the body and without the consent of any family member deposited same at a mortuary with the help of his cleaner, Amponsah, who allegedly posed as a relative.
